Celia Evans and her songs find a home in the rural and forested landscapes of rocky, wet, northern places. The lyrics tend to be rich in images that link the natural beauty of landscape and the people who inhabit them to whatever else she happens to be singing about.

Her albums include storytelling ballads, upbeat traditional-style folk, and the occasional folk rock toe-tapper. Reviewing her first album “Yellow Balloon,” released in 2003, Adirondack folk artist Dan Berggren said, “Celia Evans’ lyrics are filled with love of nature and her voice is clear as a stream.” Mark Erelli (contemporary folk artist) likens her songs to those of California singer/songwriter Kate Wolf, saying, “If Kate Wolf had forsaken northern California for the Adirondacks she might have sounded something like this.” Her second CD, “So Many Seasons,” was released in June 2006 and on it she and her guitar are joined by many, wonderful, talented musicians and vocalists. She is currently in the studio working on her 3rd CD titled “Hardwood … and other gratitudes.”

During the day, Celia is an assistant professor of ecology at Paul Smith’s College. You may also find her in her spare time canoeing around the Adirondack Park in a canoe, racing along some of the fastest paddlers in the mountains.
